Annie Zawada has lived under a full sun for much of her life, growing up on Sydney’s northern beaches and currently residing in the perennially sunny Los Angeles. With a background working in some of Australia's premier fashion brands Zawada has a love of simple and ‘plain dressing’ and was on the search for the perfect sun hat to provide shade whilst tending to the extensive vegetable garden that sits alongside the family home and art studio in LA’s Culver City.

The classic workmans hat, handmade in straw by artisans in Ohio, with methods unchanged for over 150 years has historically been created purely for function and durability. Bringing the simplicity and beautiful pieces into the Zawada’s Los Angeles studio, Annie Zawada hand makes the cotton pom pom band, assembling each hat with time and care, giving a new life to the simple hat with a twist of pop and a personal touch.
